  • Ph. D., Soil Science, The Ohio State University, 2009.
Current Role
Predicting soil carbon storage and dynamics, land surface spatial heterogeneity, and anthropogenic and climatic impacts on soil systems; benchmarking Earth system models.
Digital soil prediction, spatial uncertainty estimation, terrain analysis, scaling, sampling, remote sensing, pedometrics.
Career Highlights
  • Principal investigator: Estimating the distribution of soil organic carbon stocks in permafrost regions; incorporating spatial heterogeneity and pedogenic processes in Earth system models; evaluating environmental sustainability of regional-scale cellulosic bioenergy production; developing geospatial approaches to quantify human and climate impacts to soil systems.
  • Co-principal investigator: DOE projects studying soil carbon response to environmental change and quantifying feedbacks and uncertainties of biogeochemical processes in Earth system models.
  • Author and editor: Author of several peer-reviewed publications on geospatial modeling of soil organic carbon, land use change and management impacts on soil systems, life cycle assessment of biofuels, and benchmarking of Earth system models. Associate editor of Agronomy Journal (American Society of Agronomy publication) and Vadose Zone Journal (Soil Science Society of America publication).
